Publications

Comunità Ambiente has gained numerous experiences in the editing and production of publications. The company and its team members have authored or collaborated on numerous publications, studies and reports for different institutions.

For European Commission:

• The editorial activity included collaboration in the drafting of the “Natura 2000 Newsletter” published in 12 languages (from 1994 to 2005), and the translation into Italian (from 1994 to 2005 and from 2009 to today).
• “Natural and Cultural Heritage in Europe: Working together within the Natura 2000 Network” (2018).
• “Case studies linking cultural heritage with policies dealing with Natura 2000 and biodiversity” (2017).
  The document illustrates a series of good practices for the integrated management of Natura 2000 sites and sites of cultural interest at European level.
• “Managing farmland in Natura 2000. Case studies” (2014).
• “Sustainable hunting and Natura 2000” (2014).
• “Literature study on the impact of biodiversity changes on human health” (2010).
  The paper takes stock of the knowledge on the impact of changes in biodiversity on the spread of vector-borne human diseases and on the production of medicines.
• Collaboration to preparation of the document “How species conservation can be supported through Rural Development Programmes” (2007).
  The aim of the initiative, carried out by the European Commission in the implementation of the Habitats and Birds Directives, was to contribute to the integration of species conservation measures within the framework of sector policies such as the Rural Development Regulations or the Common Agricultural Policy.
• “LIFE for Birds, 25 years of the Birds Directive: the contribution of LIFE-Nature projects” (2006) celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Birds Directive, on the European policy for the conservation of birds.
• “LIFE Nature projects 2005 compilation”.
• “Integrated management of Natura 2000 sites: the contribution of LIFE Nature projects“ (2005) on the management of naturalistic areas of the European Natura 2000 network and on the support provided by the LIFE Natura instrument for the development of the Natura 2000 site management plans (the publication has seen the collaboration of the national authorities on the management of the Natura 2000 network).
• “Alien species and nature conservation in the EU: The role of the LIFE Programme” (2004).
  The document examines European legislation concerning, both directly and indirectly, the invasion of alien species; multi-disciplinary theme covering areas of European policies such as trade, fishing, agriculture, health and research as well as the conservation of nature.

  The document includes a description of both specific environmental funds and sources of funding available in other Community policies, such as international cooperation and the common agricultural policy. For each financial instrument, a sheet is provided outlining the general objectives, some actions that can be financed, examples of previous financing, the legal basis, the administrations that can benefit from the fund and the geographical coverage. Published on the Comunità Ambiente website, the document was very successful.
