On Friday 10 March, on the occasion of the International Day of School Meals, from 9.30 am to 1 pm, the conference “Mense…al pascolo. La sfida del bio e del km zero per la refezione scolastica del Lazio” will take place at the Città dell’Altra Economia, in Rome.

The initiative is organised by the LIFE Grace project, led by ARSIAL, in collaboration with ANCI, to enhance sustainable livestock production from extensive farming in Natura 2000 areas to be promoted in the catering chain for quality and zero km meat. Furthermore, the LIFE Grace project contributes to promote and educate the new generations on the consumption of these zootechnical products, thus promoting the recovery of grazing habitats and paying attention to environmental and socio-economic sustainability and to a healthy and good diet.

To achieve these objectives, the adoption of Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) is one of the strategies that LIFE Grace is pursuing with the active collaboration of some municipalities in the Lazio Region that have already joined this process.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of bodies and organizations of importance in public collective catering: ANCI Lazio – Education and Educational Policies(Luisa Piacentini), Ministry of Health – Directorate General for Hygiene, Food Safety and Nutrition (Giuseppe Plutino), Fondazione Ecosistemi (Silvano Falocco), GO.BIO – Bioagriculture, Innovation, Organization project (Paola Trionfi), ANGEM – collective catering national association (Carlo Scarsciotti), and the Councilor for Agriculture, Environment and Waste Cycle of the Municipality of Rome (Sabrina Alfonsi).

The project partners ARSIAL (Miria Catta and Claudio Di Giovannantonio) and FIRAB (Alba Pietromarchi) will bring the experience gained by LIFE Grace to implement CAM with products from extensive livestock farming in Natura 2000 areas.

The conference will end with a round table attended by trade associations and stakeholders, whose theme will be “The experience of local authorities and associations in Lazio”.
