As part of the LIFE Grace project, the training course on augmented photo-interpretation using the “Collect Earth” software recently took place at the Botanical Garden of Rome.
The training course was organized by the Department of Biology – Sapienza University of Rome, technical-scientific partner of the LIFE Grace Project. Technicians of the Environment Directorate of the Lazio Region, Park Authorities of the protected areas present in the territories of the project, and ARSIAL, project partner, were involved.
The aim of the course was to train technicians on the use of “Collect Earth” (developed in collaboration between FAO and Google as part of the OpenForis initiative) for the evaluation of land use changes through augmented photo-interpretation and long-term monitoring of the evolution of semi-natural grasslands in the target areas of the LIFE Grace Project.
The training course was organised into three days, 18, 19 and 20 January and structured into a theoretical and practical part, with exercises on the use of the platform, the monitoring protocol, the collection, analysis and export of data.
