On May 29th, Umbria Region staff, in collaboration with AFoR staff, released 150 kg of adult Mediterranean trout (15-25 cm) from the Borgo Cerreto regional fish breeding center, into the Protection Zone between Ferentillo and Scheggino.
Furthermore, on May 16th, 5,000 fry and 500 trout were delivered to the Monti Sibillini National Park to support the conservation and recovery of Mediterranean trout that the Park is undertaking as part of the LIFE STREAMS project. This follows last year’s release of 200 trout and 10,000 fry from the regional fish breeding center. All the trout delivered to the Park were released into the Nera River catchment area.
Below is a report from Buongiorno Regione Marche discussing the collaboration between LIFE STREAMS and LIFE IMAGINE.
The Umbria Region and AFor, under the supervision of the University of Perugia, will continue releasing Mediterranean trout into the regional hydrographic network in the coming weeks.
