Pesticide use:
- reduces biodiversity
- reduces soil fertility
- pollutes groundwater
The “National Strategy for Biodiversity to 2030,” adopted by the Ministry of the Environment, calls for restoring the conservation status of habitats and species, including through specific agricultural actions, such as reducing pesticide use, combating the decline of pollinating insects, and promoting organic farming.
This is also one of the objectives of LIFE IMAGINE, which the Umbria Region intends to achieve by involving farmers, consumers, public institutions, and volunteer associations, all united in the responsibility to protect and conserve the nature of our Umbria.
What alternatives do we have to the use of pesticides?
- integrated pest management
- antagonistic species
- naturally derived pesticides
The partners have created an information leaflet that you can download here.
