Periodic monitoring of river ecosystems colonized by populations of terrestrial invertebrates with aquatic larval stage is crucial to evaluate their conservation status even during the winter period. The Bevagna plain is crossed by a dense network of ditches and canals which are home to a rare dragonfly included in the annexes of the Habitat Directive: Coenagrion castellani.
