As part of action B3 of the project, 5 simplified monitoring protocols were implemented for monitoring the evolution of the three target habitats, 6210(*), 6220* and 6230*: one protocol for each of the three habitats, plus two specific protocols aimed at monitoring the main pressures and threats to habitats.
The protocols will be provided to farmers for field data collection and participatory monitoring through an App for portable devices (smartphones, tablets). The monitoring App is based on the Collect Mobile software, developed in partnership by FAO and Google as part of the OpenForis initiative (https://openforis.org/tools/collect-mobile/). The Simplified monitoring protocols can be used within the app by importing a specific file provided by LIFE Grace.
The observation will therefore be focused on some easily recognizable species, identified and listed in the list of local indicators, and on the collection of easily measured stationary data.
Over the next few months, 3 training events will be organized in the three project areas in which farmers will be trained on the use of the app, the simplified protocols and the recognition of certain plant species.
