In 20 years, Life, the European Fund for the Environment, has contributed more than EUR 1.2 billion to the management and restoration of over 2000 Natura 2000 sites across the EU.
In these two decades, the two sections of the fund (LIFE Nature and LIFE Environment Policy and Governance) co-financed 3,685 projects, for a total of 2.8 billion euro from the EU budget; thanks to a leverage effect, another € 3.8 billion were invested from other funds, for a variety of projects to improve the environment and communicate these results to a wider audience.
